Lecture and discussion with Prof. Dr. Oludaye Tade: “I don’t know if life will ever be normal for me again”: Women’s Experiences of Victimization by Boko Haram

24. Juni 2026 0:00

16 c.t. Uhr, HGD 20, RUB-Campus

Prof. Tade examines the victimization experiences of women displaced by Boko Haram terrorists to internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Adamawa, Northeast Nigeria. What are their victimization experiences, and what do they reveal about their agency and resilience? Using an exploratory design, the study presented selected 43 women from four IDP camps in Adamawa State, one of the worst-hit states by Boko Haram. The data illuminate the lived experiences and social contexts of decision-making, particularly regarding the women’s safety and how women negotiate ‘living’ with their children and their bodies and how their experiences and losses vary.

Please note that the presentation will be held in English.
Also the discussion afterwards will be primarly in English.
